Undergraduate Courses of Vocal Music Opera Department (Bel Canto)
A five-year program
Degree: Bachelor of Arts
Graduation Requirements
Get all credits stipulated and pass the graduation exam. The graduation exam includes: a graduation project report with no less than 3000 words and give a graduation concert.
Requirements of graduation concert: At least two Chinese works, two foreign art songs and four foreign arias (one of them shall be classical aria). Foreign works shall include three kinds of languages.
Complete Aural Skills Level Five and English Level Two.
Course Structure and Credit Distribution (Not less than 187 credits)
Main courses of the major (Not less than 66 credits)
18 credits of main courses, 10 credits of Piano Accompaniment, 4 credits of Italian, 4 credits of German, 4 credits of French, 2 credits of Movement Class, 4 credits of Actor’s Lines, 12 credits of Performance, 3 credits of Piano, no less than 6 credits of other elective courses.
Special Courses (No less than 6 credits)
4 credits of Chinese Opera Appreciation.
Basic Courses of Subjects (Not less than 38 credits)
Direction of Musicology: 4 credits of Basic Chinese Traditional Music , 2 credits of Songs of Han Ethnic Group, 2 credits of World Folk Music, 2 credits of Chinese Ancient Musical History, 2 credits of History of Music In Modern China, 4 credits of Western Music History, no less than 2 credits of other elective courses.
Direction of Composition Technology and Theory: 8 credits of Aural Skills, 2 credits of Music Theory, 4 credits of Harmony①, 4 credits of Musical Form and Work Analysis, no less than 2 credits of other elective courses.
Public Foundation Courses (No less than 52 credits) (Not Required for International Students)
Compulsory National Regulations and other Humanities and Social Sciences Category: 3 credits of Cultivation of Ethic Thought and Basis of Law, 2 credits of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History, 3 credits of Fundamental Principles of Marxism, 6 credits of Mao Zedong Thought and Introduction to Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, 4 credits of Physical Education, 16 credits of English, 2 credits of Art Introduction, 4 credits of Computer Science, 1 credit of Military Theory, 1 credit of Entrance Education, 2 credits of Government ,no less than 8 credits of other elective courses.
Practice (Not less than 21 credits)
No less than 28 credits of Major Practice: 4 credits of chorus/duet, 2 credits of graduation project (paper) and 2 credits of graduation concert.
Not less than 1 credit for Society Practice and 1 credit of that shall for Military Skills (Not Required for International Students).
No less than 6 credits of a course of lectures.

Graduation Requirements
Get all credits stipulated and pass the graduation exam. The graduation exam includes: Submit a graduation project report with no less than 3000 words and give a graduation concert.
Requirements of graduation concert: No less than five songs including a Chinese opera song, 1 Chinese ancient poems song, 1 Chinese folk song, 1 aria learned during the period of undergraduate(e.g. Yu Opera, Pecking Opera, Kun Opera and Chinese folk arts, etc), an optional art song(students of middle and bass can make an appropriate adjustment).
Complete Aural Skills Level Five and English Level Two.

Main courses of the major (Not less than 50 credits)
18 credits for main courses, 10 credits for Piano Accompaniment, 2 credits for Shaping, 4 credits for Actor’s Lines, 12 credits for Performance, 2 credits for Piano, not less than 2 credits for other elective courses.
Special Courses (Not less than 12 credits)
4 credits of Chinese Folk Arts, 4 credits of Yu Opera, 4 credits of Peking Opera/Kun Opera.
