Conducting Department of China Conservatory of Music was founded in 2003. It is one of the conducting talent centers with high standard in Chinese higher music schools. The first Director of the department was Wu Lingfen. At present, the acting Director of the department is Jin Ye.

At present, it has the undergraduate’s courses system of Orchestral Conducting and Choral Conducting as well as the graduate’s level courses. To highlight the advantage and feature of discipline construction of China Conservatory of Music, the Orchestral Conducting major of graduates also equipped with researching directions of western and traditional chinese orchestral music.

Conducting Department cooperates with Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Chorus of National Theater, China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra, Tianjin Symphony Orchestra and Harbin Symphony Orchestra. It also cooperates with many famous institutes of France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and the USA, which aim to make an academic communication and performance tours.

Graduates of Conducting Department play important roles in many famous music institutes, key universities and important music troupes at home and abroad.
