Graduation Requirements
Fulfill the requirements of the prescribed credits, pass the graduation exam. The graduation exam includes: a paper of at least 10,000 words and a professional thesis defense.
Course Structure and Credit Distribution (Not less than 164 credits)
Main courses of the major (Not less than 28 credits)
8 credits of Independent Research, 4 credits of Han Ethic Groups’ Folk Music, 4 credits of Rap Music, 4 credits of Traditional Chinese Opera, 4 credits of Traditional Chinese Instruments, 4 credits of Minority Folk Music, 4 credits of World Music, 4 credits of Traditional Musicology Introduction, 8 credits of Western Music History, 4 credits of Chinese Ancient Music History, 4 credits of History of Music In Modern China, 4 credits of Music Aesthetics, 2 credits of Thesis Writing of Musicology.
Special Courses (Not less than 4 credits)
2 credits of Digital Audio Technology, 2 credits of Common Sense of Traditional Chinese Musical Notation (elective courses) ①.
Basic Courses of Subjects (Not less than 34 credits)
Composition Technology and Theory: 8 credits of Aural Skills, 2 credits of Music Theory, 2 credits of Harmony②, 2 credits of Counterpoint and Polyphony, 4 credits of Musical Form and Works Analysis, 4 credits of Orchestration, not less than 4 credits of other elective courses.
Music Performance: 2 credits of Piano, 2 credits of Elective Chinese Traditional Instruments’ Study, and not less than 2 credits of other elective courses.
Public Foundation Courses (Not less than 47 credits)(Not Required for International Students)
Compulsory National Regulations and other Humanities and Social Sciences Category: 3 credits of Cultivation of Ethic Thought and Basis of Law, 2 credits of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History, 3 credits of Fundamental Principles of Marxism, 6 credits of Mao Zedong Thought and Introduction to Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, 4 credits of Physical Education, 16 credits of English, 2 credits of Art Introduction, 4 credits of Computer Science, 1 credit of Military Theory, 1 credit of Entrance Education. Not less than 5 credits of other elective courses: 2 credits of Government, and 2 credits of College Student Career Programming.
Practice (Not less than 15 credits)
Not less than 14 credits of Major Practice: 2 credits of Field Work and Collect Folk Songs, 4 credits of Field Visit (Collect Folk Songs), 4 credits of graduation project(paper) and not less than 4 credit of other major practice.
Not less than 1 credit of Social Practice and 1 credit of Military Skills (Not Required for International Students).
6. Not less than 6 credits of a course of lectures.
