Undergraduate Courses of Composition Department
Length of Schooling: Five Years, Two Phases
(ONE) Phase of Elementary Education (2 or 3 years): All students shall take same required courses between the first school year and the second school year. Elective courses are correlated courses, exploratory courses and basic courses for the second phase of the major.
(TWO) Phase of Professional Education (2 or 3 years): In the third and forth school year, students can choose different directions to study according to relevant regulations of the department.

Time of choosing directions of different majors
① Composition, Electronic Music Composition, Sight Singing and Ear Training and Electronic Music Production are chose at the end of the second school year.
② Direction of Composition Technology and Theory (Harmony, Counterpoint, Music Form and Works Analysis, Orchestral Music Method, etc.) is chose at the end of the second school year.
Ways of choosing directions of different majors
① Directions mentioned above are for two-way selection, students shall submit a application to the teaching and researching office of the major, and the office would discuss it according to the condition of the student and the department, then report to the department. The number would be decided by the condition of full-time teachers and the number of applicants.
② Students who choose the direction of Composition can two-way choose the faculty adviser according to specific conditions.
③ Besides the major direction chose, students who choose the direction of Composition Technology and Theory (Harmony, Counterpoint, Music Form and Works Analysis, Orchestral Music Method, etc..) and Aural Skills shall take required Composition courses(2 credits) for one school year.

Graduation requirements of Direction of Composition
① Get all credits stipulated.
② Submit a thesis for applying the Bachelor Degree with more than 3000 words and qualified it.
③ Finish a large scale work of orchestra (includes traditional orchestral work), or a scene of opera, or a concerto, or three chamber music works(one of them shall be vocal music work) and qualified it.
④ Complete courses of Second-level English.
Complete courses of Seventh-level Sight Singing and Ear Training and qualified it.
Graduation requirements of Direction of Electronic Music Composition
① Get all credits stipulated.
② Submit a thesis for applying the Bachelor Degree with more than 3000 words and qualified it.
③ Finish two large scale works of electronic music, three small scale works of electronic music, three works of chamber music and qualified it.
④ Complete courses of Second-level English.
Complete courses of Seventh-level and qualified it.
Graduation requirements of Direction of Sight Singing and Ear Training
① Get all credits stipulated.
② Submit a thesis for applying the Bachelor Degree with more than 3000 words and qualified it.
③ Make a skill examination and report of Sight Singing and Ear Training (includes 2 sight singing songs created by oneself) and qualified it.
④ Complete courses of Second-level English.
Complete Sight Singing and Ear Training Course Level Seven, , get more than 85 points.
Graduation requirements of Direction of Electronic Music Producing
① Get all credits stipulated.
② Submit a thesis for applying the Bachelor Degree with more than 3000 words and qualified it.
③ Finish three large scale works of electronic music production, one of them shall be made by recording(live recording), and the other one of them shall includes vocal music, and middle or small scale works of various of styles, and all works shall carry with qualified project files.
④ Complete courses of Second-level English.
Complete Aural Skill Course Level Five and qualified it.
Graduation requirements of Direction of Harmony
① Get all credits stipulated.
② Submit a thesis for applying the Bachelor Degree with more than 3000 words and qualified it.
③ Submit two works of vocal music or solo and ensemble instrument music with exploratory in harmony and qualified them.
④ Complete courses of Second-level English.
Complete courses of Seventh-level Solfeggio and qualified it.
Graduation requirements of Direction of Polyphony
① Get all credits stipulated.
② Submit a thesis for applying the Bachelor Degree with more than 5000 words and qualified it.
③ Submit two middle scale works of polyphony(optional forms of works: piano double fugue, Passacaglia or polyphony music of chamber music and chorus) and qualified them.
④ Complete courses of Second-level English.
Complete Aural Skills and Ear Training course level Seven and qualified it.
Graduation requirements of Direction of Music Form and Works Analysis
① Get all credits stipulated.
② Submit a thesis for applying the Bachelor Degree with more than 6000 words and qualified it.
③ Finish a middle scale work of music(vocal music or instrumental music) and qualified it.
④ Complete courses of Second-level English.
Complete courses of Seventh-level Solfeggio and qualified it.
Graduation requirements of Direction of Orchestral Music Method
① Get all credits stipulated.
② Submit a thesis for applying the Bachelor Degree with more than 5000 words and qualified it.
③ Finish two orchestral works of more than two pipes(a. Orchestral works recomposed according to traditional piano music. b. Self-create orchestral works including accompaniment spectrum of vocal music works) and qualified it.
④ Complete courses of Second-level English.
Complete Aural Skill Course Level Seven and qualified it.
