Research Center of China Conservatory of Music was originally established in 1964. As a prominent educational institution, at the very beginning, it was relatively independent on its own. It is designed to promote teaching through music composition and academic research, and strive to convert new works and academic achievements into teaching resources. Graduate Research Center was respectively renamed as “Creation and Research Department” in 1980 when organizational system of China Conservatory of Music was rebuilt, and renamed as “Research Department” in 1996. Apart from conducting scientific research management, this department also takes the responsibility for training the graduate students, the continuing education of undergraduates. The department consists of graduate office, subject construction office, scientific research office and the traditional Chinese music exhibition hall. Supported and guided by leaders, the Research Center of China Conservatory of Music was officially established in 2004 according to its academic features. Research Center of the China Conservatory actively cooperates with the expert committee to organize and to conduct major scientific projects, academic activities, academic consultation and discussion. Also, the center takes responsibility for organizing academic activities and academic exchange activities. In addition, research center also pools renowned music theorists such as Zuyin Fan, Xi-an Li, Tongba Yang, Weijie Gao, Weiliang Zhang, Wenguang Wu, Mingdao Chen, Jingwei Zhang, Jiaxing Xie, Weimin Zhao and others to take charge of corresponding work and provide powerful academic basis.
