In 1964, the Middle School Attached to the China Conservatory of Music established at the same time with China Conservatory of Music under the care of Premier Zhou Enlai.

During the fifty years of school practice, the Middle School Attached to the China Conservatory of Music always insisted the goal of cultivating national music talents, and its mission is to deliver those music talents to top universities and society. It has been awarded titles like “Beijing Key Secondary Vocational School” and “National Key Secondary Vocational School”. Since when it was established, the Middle School Attached to the China Conservatory of Music had cultivated more than 2000 medium music talents and delivered many excellent students to China Conservatory of Music and other conservatories and universities. Ji Yun, Jiao Ying, Li Chongguang, Wang Zhaoqian and Shen Cheng had been the President of the Middle School Attached to the China Conservatory of Music. The President of the middle school is Guo Mengli.

The school offers majors like Chinese Instrument Performance, Vocal Performance, Composition and Music Theory, Keyboard Instrument Performance and Orchestral Instruments as well as a Teaching and Researching Class Office for general knowledge courses. Moreover, the school built up a Training Center for art training services and several education training bases. It cooperated with many international conservatories, and because of its endeavors, it had developed to be a musical secondary vocational school with complete professional subjects, advantageous traditional subjects, great management system, guaranteed administrative service, wide influence and good reputation.
