CHINA CONSERVATORY OF MUSICOn September 24, 2018, during the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival of China, the principals attending the “2018 Leadership Network of Global Music Education League” arrived in Beijing one after another. Professor Wang Liguang, Chairman of the Global Music Education League and President of the China Conservatory of Music, successively met with the overseas principals at the Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Chinese National School of Music at China Conservatory of Music, extended his warm welcome to them, and had cordial talks with them.

“On festive occasions more than ever one thinks of one’s dear ones far away.” On a special day like the Mid-Autumn Festival, President Wang met with 12 old friends to talk over old times, and delightfully met with two new friends. At 9: 30 am, President Wang Liguang met with William Reeder, Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts at George Mason University in America. President Wang extended a warm welcome to the arrival of Dean Reeder. Dean Reeder asked about the creation of large orchestras at China Conservatory of Music and was concerned about Wang’s creation of works over the past year. President Wang thanked his old friend for his concern and said that in the coming one or two years, he would devote his energy to the work of the Global Music Education League, and would make every effort to promote the construction of the league and the implementation of various cooperative projects. Besides, he looked forward to hearing the ideas and suggestions from Dean Reeder in the following activities, and he wished to have close cooperation and communication with Dean Reeder. At the end of the meeting, they took a group photo, and Dean Reeder left the best wish of “Good luck” on the signature wall.
Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève, Switzerland
Deputy Director Xavier Bouvier
Later, President Wang Liguang met with Xavier Bouvier, Deputy Director of the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève, Switzerland, and introduced the features of this activity to him, saying that “It is more like a gathering of old friends.” President Wang warmly invited Director Bouvier to Guizhou for arts collection. Director Bouvier said he was delighted to be able to participate in the exchange season again, because the league has not only integrated the best music education resources in the world, but also set up a platform for the exchanges of outstanding music experts and artists from different countries. Under the leadership of President Wang Liguang, the league has laid a solid foundation although it remains on the preliminary stage of development and still has a long way to go . Director Bouvier also said that he was looking forward to the arts collection in Guizhou to deeply understand the charm of Chinese culture and spend an unforgettable period of time.

Director Mauro Pozzana
The third guest that President Wang met with was Mauro Pozzana, Director of the Uni-Italia Association. He visited the China Conservatory of Music for the first time and said he was honored to participate in this exchange season. He admired President Wang’s contribution to music education around the world. President Wang warmly welcomed Director Pozzana, a new friend, and introduced to him in detail the schooling characteristics of the China Conservatory of Music which is based on traditional Chinese culture, as well as his commitment to actively build the “Chinese School of Vocal Music”, hoping to develop together with Italian vocal music art. On behalf of the Uni-Italia Association and more than 20 music institutions in Italy, Director Pozzana expressed his admiration for traditional Chinese culture, put forward the intention of concrete cooperation in the future, and wished the success of this exchange season.

Dean David Rosenboom
David Rosenboom, Dean of the Herb Alpert School of Music, California Institute of the Arts in America, is the fourth guest of the meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, President Wang extended his warm welcome and expressed his expectation of paying a return visit to the American institutions of the league to discuss further cooperation. Dean Rosenboom said that the Global Music Education League was a high-end cooperative institution that had never existed in the world. He looked forward to the greater achievements during the next two days of the forum. During the talks, President Wang Liguang and Dean Rosenboom also discussed and reached a consensus on the cultivation of today’s talented composers. President Wang invited Dean Rosenboom to present his insights in the follow-up forum and promote the substantive cooperation between the two universities.
The Mount Royal University Conservatory, Canada
Dean Brad Mahon
The fifth guest that President Wang met with was Brad Mahon, Dean of The Mount Royal University Conservatory in Canada. They were very delighted since it’s their second meeting in one year. President Wang introduced to Dean Mahon about his return visit to the European institutions of the league and the results of international joint talent training. When talking about the purpose of establishing the Global Music Education League, they both agreed that the league was a high-end platform that better integrated the best-quality educational resources from different schools around the world and benefited every university and every student in the league. Dean Mahon congratulated this year’s Leadership Network of Global Music Education League. He said that The Mount Royal University Conservatory was willing to cooperate with the China Conservatory of Music to carry out the “2+2” talent training mode with a more open mind, and to jointly write a beautiful chapter of art education between China and Canada.
