David H.Stull, President of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Visited Our School Update Dec 02 2017

CHINA CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC  

On the morning of November 29, 2017, WANG Liguang, Chairman of Global Music Education League and President of China Conservatory of Music, met with David H. Stull, President of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in the National Music Hall VIP Room of the school. They carried out in-depth exploration on future strategic cooperation plan between the two schools and reached a primary consensus. LI Xiujun, Director of the International Exchange Department, , WANG Cui, General Secretary of Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Chinese National School of Music and HOU Junxia, Director of Orchestra Department and relevant personnel of our school attended the meeting.

President WANG Liguang firstly gave a warm welcome to President David H. Stull. He interpreted the school-running philosophy of China Conservatory of Music which based on Sinology and the new progress had been made in the field of international communication. President WANG Liguang especially introduced the “Global Leadership Network on Higher Music Education” launched in September this year, and the Global Music Education League established during this period.

President David H. Stull congratulated President WANG Liguang on the election of Chairman of Global Music Education League. He said that he had heard about the grand occasion of “Global Leadership Network on Higher Music Education” from many consrvatories’ president friends even far in in San Francisco. He regarded the holding of “Global Leadership Network on Higher Music Education” and establishment of “Global Music Education Alliance” as a milepost in history of music education. It was with great regret that he had not been able to participate in the event because of the conflict of work arrangements, so he visited the China Conservatory of Music this time, and also hoped to join the “Global Music Education League”.

President David H. Stull said that many excellent graduates from China Conservatory of Music are learning in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. From them, he saw the first-class teaching level of China Conservatory of Music. At the same time, he said that the San Francisco Conservatory of Music is planning to build the Chinese Music Department, and would teach Chinese musical instruments and Chinese music theories in the future and award degrees. As the highest school of Chinese music education and research, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music hoped to be able to work with China Conservatory of Music in this field.

At the end of the meeting, President WANG Liguang and President David H. Stull reached a consensus: sending students for exchange studying in the future, selecting excellent teachers from both schools to visit the other to carry out teaching and research work. At the same time, both parties gradually realize the diploma, credit recognition, co-culture between the two schools and educational system connection at stage of undergraduate and postgraduate.

After the meeting, David H. Stull issued an invitation to President WANG Liguang to participate in the centennial celebration of San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2018. He hoped that President WANG Liguang can accept the appointment as a “Visiting Professor at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music “, and visit the San Francisco Conservatory of Music to hold master classes and lectures in the future. President David H. Stull was also hired as “Professor of Honor of China Conservatory of Music”.
