On the morning of November 22, 2017, Wang Liguang, Chairman of the Global Music Education League and President of China Conservatory of Music, met with Mr. Jean-Philippe Jutzi, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of Switzerland in China, and diplomatic staff from the embassy, at the VIP room of the Grand Concert Hall of China Conservatory of Music. Li Xiujun, Director of the International Exchange Department of China Conservatory of Music, Wang Cui, Secretary-General of Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Chinese National School of Music and relevant staff attended the meeting.
President Wang first welcomed Counselor Jean-Philippe Jutzi and his entourage, and introduced the overview of China Conservatory of Music and the Chinese National School of Music advocated by China Conservatory of Music and its conceptualization. President Wang said that the function of music education today does not only amount to singing and playing musical instruments for physical and mental pleasure. Further, music education should play an important role in promoting the progress of human civilization and world peace.
President Wang then introduced to Counselor Jean-Philippe Jutzi an array of efforts China Conservatory of Music has made in the field of international exchange in recent years. He particularly introduced the Global Leadership Network on Higher Music Education launched by China Conservatory of Music in September this year and the Global Music Education League established during this event.
Counselor Jean-Philippe Jutzi first congratulated China Conservatory of Music for its international reputation it has built in recent years and the successful organization of influential international exchange activities. He said that after learning about the Global Leadership Network on Higher Music Education from his old friend Xavier Bouvier, President of Haute école de musique Genève, he wanted to visit China Conservatory of Music immediately. However, at the time of his last visit, he deeply regretted that he failed to meet with President Wang as President Wang was then participating in major state affairs. Therefore, during his second visit to China Conservatory of Music, he personally met with President Wang.
Counselor Jean-Philippe Jutzi stated that he would be very happy to build a platform for exchange between China Conservatory of Music and Swiss art institutions and schools. He hoped to make substantive contributions to further music and cultural exchanges between China and Switzerland within the framework of the Global Music Education League initiated by China Conservatory of Music.
